Calgary Scientific announces ResMD™ Cardiac

Product to provide significant increase in functionality while providing great cost-saving benefits

Calgary, AB – November 30, 2008 - Calgary Scientific Inc., a leading innovator in enterprise advanced visualization solutions, announces ResMD Cardiac, a suite of clinical modules for viewing and analyzing cardiac CT and MR images, to be available in early 2009. ResMD Cardiac is the industry’s first single unified system for CT and MR studies for use by radiologists, cardiac radiologists and cardiologists in the screening and diagnosing of cardiac disease. The modules included in this comprehensive suite are Calcium Scoring, Coronary Analysis, and Ventricular Function. The product can be delivered through the ResMD Web advanced visualization platform or seamlessly integrated within a PACS using the ResMD SDK.

ResMD Cardiac allows imaging professionals to perform both anatomical and functional analysis using both CT and MR images in a unified and intuitive workflow. By providing access on a web platform or integrated with PACS, the suite significantly extends the reach of powerful cardiac tools beyond traditional proprietary workstations. The suite allows flexible access to the tools where clinicians want to use them and reduces costs associated with high-end hardware. Powerful automated tools and reporting makes completing a study more efficient, while the harmonized user interface for both CT and MR reduces the time and cost associated with learning and using multiple systems.

About ResMD Cardiac Modules

Calcium Scoring

This module is used to quantify calcium in the coronary arteries as a predictive tool for future coronary events, such as a heart attack. It uses non-contrast-enhanced cardiac CT images. Some of the features will include single-click Agatston scoring, calcium pre-highlighting, and customizable reports that allow you to meet the needs of your practice.

Coronary Analysis

This module is used to visually inspect and quantify stenoses in the coronary arteries. MIP/MPR, 3D, curved MPR, and cross-sectional images enable flexible evaluation of arteries. Some of the features include automated centerlining that allows for efficient inspection of arteries in curved MPRs, heart segmentation, and centerline editing for getting through difficult stenoses.

Ventricular Function

This module is used for the analysis of cardiac function using CT and MR images. Fully automated left ventricle segmentation provides rapid access to ejection fraction, stroke volume, and other metrics. Additional MR tools include flow analysis and tissue viability analysis, providing a complete dual-modality evaluation within a single module.
