I3 & Calgary Scientific Install 3-D at Shore Health

Calgary, Alberta – September 9, 2009  Intuitive Imaging Informatics, LLC (I3), of Bell Canyon, CA, and Calgary Scientific, Inc. (CSI), of Calgary, have integrated and deployed an advanced, web-based 3-D solution at Shore Health of Maryland. Shore Health, a long-standing client of Intuitive Imaging, has an active user-base of I3’s ImageQube Web-based PACS. Calgary Scientific offers ResMD™on the PureWeb™ platform, allowing reconstructed 3-D images to be delivered through only a standard web browser without sacrificing functionality or speed. I3 and Calgary Scientific have recently completed an initial integration of ResMD with the ImageQube; Shore is the first center to deploy this integrated solution.

“ResMD has an innovative feature—a 3-D Lens Tool—that impressed me,” says Intuitive President, J. Martin Pfaff, PhD, “plus, Calgary Scientific not only has the capability to deliver 3-D volume rendering within a facility on a workstation, but also the capability to allow remote users to take advantage of this technology with full functionality.” ResMD is a completely zero-footprint client to remote users; computers, laptops—even iPhones—can be used to view images without ever downloading information onto these devices, addressing HIPAA regulations. Now integrated, the two technologies allow a simple pull down menu within the ImageQube to launch Resolution MD and create volume-rendered, 3-D images on the fly.

Steve Rogers, PACS Administrator at Shore Health System of Maryland, was instrumental in arranging the deployment. “At a recent convention, Intuitive was exhibiting Calgary’s technology; the opportunity to provide our radiologists and clinicians with an easy to use, integrated tool that allows better visualization of today’s more complex studies was obvious. I was interested in what I saw, and discussions of clinical trials began immediately. This will ultimately contribute to better patient care.”

3-D reconstructions have the ability to be saved as part of the exam in the PACS archive. Deeper integration between the ImageQube and ResMD is currently in the works, with plans to ultimately provide synchronization of the 3-D images with Intuitive’s patented Anatomic Triangulation functionality.
