Calgary Scientific named one of Ten Canadian Healthcare Solutions to Watch

Leading research firm, IDC, spotlights ten innovative companies in the healthcare space

Calgary, AB – May 13, 2009 - Calgary Scientific Inc., a leading innovator in advanced visualization solutions, has been named one of ten innovative Canadian healthcare companies to watch by IDC, the premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the information technology, telecommunications, and consumer technology markets. In a release put out by the research firm yesterday, the need for moving from antiquated technologies to more innovative and efficient technologies was identified.

Calgary Scientific’s suite of harmonized, advanced medical software technologies offered through its PureWeb™ platform, and through its software development kits, allows purely web-based platforms to be seamlessly integrated into PACs and other digital information storage systems for real time interactive access. It also provides the capability to rapidly integrate thirdparty applications into the PureWeb platform so that they have full functionality over the web. These products not only allow for greater efficiencies and reduced costs, they can also support the Electronic Health Record being pursued by all Canadian provincial governments, as well as the US administration.

“We are very pleased to have received this recognition from IDC,” says Byron Osing, CEO and Chair at Calgary Scientific. “There are numerous opportunities for improving the healthcare system and Calgary Scientific’s product suite offers very robust solutions that can address many of the concerns with the current technologies and processes.”
